For the Warsaw Municipal Roads Authority (ZDM), we prepared infrastructure for its public website and internal intranet. After launch, we provided server administration and technical support, and the cooperation grew to include further website functionality.

Meeting the needs of a public website and an intranet

The public website serves people looking for municipal information, including during traffic peaks. The intranet supports employees and needs to fit the organisation’s login arrangements. We considered these different uses and the security of the services when preparing the environments.

The public-facing infrastructure uses Debian Linux, nginx and PHP. We integrated the intranet environment with the organisation’s domain. Our work covered configuration and handover, followed by technical support for the environments.

Long-term maintenance and development

Launching the services was the start of the cooperation. Subsequent tasks involved WordPress maintenance, responding to support requests and developing tools for the editorial team. Working on both infrastructure and application issues allowed us to consider problems in the context of the wider environment.

One development example is the investment map module. Editors can add locations, assign categories and link map points to information published on the website. We prepared the administration interface and the map and location-list views.

Another completed element is a custom solution that prevents repeated uploads of identical files to the WordPress media library. The client tested and confirmed the duplicate-blocking functionality.

What did the project deliver?

The work provided infrastructure for two different uses, a public website and an intranet, followed by technical support and selected functional improvements.

We provide similar work through Linux server administration and technical support for websites and applications. Tell us about your environment and requirements so we can discuss taking over its maintenance or further development.
