The client sells products through a marketplace model, so automation was essential. On one side, they needed to publish and maintain listings on About You. On the other side, they wanted to manage operations in BaseLinker. Therefore, a reliable two-way integration was required. In addition, the client wanted automated product translations. However, they also needed cost control for ChatGPT usage. Moreover, they requested that final translations are stored in base.com in a selected field.
Scope of work
First, we implemented product integration from BaseLinker to About You (BL → AY). Next, we added stock integration (BL → AY), so availability stays up to date. Then, we enabled order import from About You to BaseLinker (AY → BL). In addition, we implemented status integration (AY → BL), so order handling remains consistent. Meanwhile, we enabled automated translations via ChatGPT on the client’s account. At the same time, we optimized costs by caching translation results. Finally, we saved translations in base.com in the field selected by the client.
What we delivered
1) Products: BaseLinker → About You
We built a product publishing flow from BaseLinker to About You. As a result, the client can manage the catalog in one place and push listings to the marketplace when needed. In addition, the process is repeatable, so scaling the assortment is easier.
2) Stock levels: BaseLinker → About You
We implemented stock synchronization from BaseLinker to About You. Therefore, product availability on the marketplace reflects real inventory more accurately. At the same time, this reduces the risk of overselling.
3) Orders: About You → BaseLinker
We enabled automatic order import from About You into BaseLinker. Consequently, the client can handle marketplace orders in one panel instead of copying data manually. In addition, the team works faster because the workflow is structured.
4) Order statuses: About You → BaseLinker
We added status synchronization so both systems stay aligned. As a result, statuses in BaseLinker match what happens on About You. Moreover, the client gains clearer control over fulfillment and communication.
5) AI translations (ChatGPT) on the client’s account
We enabled automated translations via ChatGPT using the client’s own account. Therefore, the client keeps control over billing and usage. In addition, translations can run as part of the product workflow, so content is ready for publishing faster.
6) Cost optimization with translation caching
We implemented caching for translation outputs, because the same phrases often repeat in product content. As a result, identical text is not translated again. Consequently, ChatGPT costs are lower and the process is faster.
7) Saving translations in base.com
We stored the generated translations in base.com in the field selected by the client. Thanks to this, the translations remain available in the system for future use. In addition, it supports content consistency across multiple sales channels.
Results
In the end, we delivered a complete About You ↔ BaseLinker integration across the key areas. Products and stock are synced from BaseLinker to the marketplace, so listings stay current. At the same time, orders and statuses flow from About You into BaseLinker, therefore daily operations are easier. Moreover, we added ChatGPT translations with caching, so automation works without unnecessary cost. Finally, we ensured translations are saved in base.com, which improves content management and reuse.
